Burton Loop (20 miles)

Parking and Restrooms: Potosi

Starting in Potosi follow the Great River Road/State Highway 133 out of town to County Road N passing through the village of Burton. Follow County Road N until you come to County Road U and follow U Potosi, Wisconsinback to Potosi. A break in Potosi, the Catfish Capital of Wisconsin, will give you a glimpse into a couple important facets of Wisconsin’s heritage. The tradition of brewing beer is being brought back to life in Potosi at the Potosi Brewing Company Transportation Museum, the Great River Road Interpretive Center, Potosi Brewing Company, Potosi, WIthe National Brewery Museum, and the brew pub. You can experience a taste of the life of the earliest Wisconsin “badgers”, the lead miners with a guided at St John’s Mine. Or spend time exploring the Grant River Recreation Area located just southeast of Potosi. Besides you, this area is visited by some 273 species of birds!
