Parking and Restrooms: Cassville, Beetown
Start off on County Road VV in Cassville, home to Stonefield Historic Site, the beloved riverside agricultural estate of Wisconsin’s first governor, Nelson Dewey. Stop and view the Wisconsin State Agricultural Museum, the turn of the century farmhouse and village exhibits. Begin your ride along the Mississippi River and enjoy a relatively flat ride and gradual climb out of the river valley. Take a detour into Nelson Dewey State Park to explore the Mississippi River blufflands and Native American Indian mounds. This part of the state is steeped in Wisconsin history. Rolling hills and views of the rural farmsteads await you on County Road V. County Road U will take you through the village of Beetown where you pick up State Highway 81 back to Cassville. Highway 81 does experience heavier traffic, but there is a paved shoulder the entire way.
