Parking and Restrooms: Dickeyville, Sinsinawa
This loop takes you through the southern most portion of Grant County. In fact, a portion of Sinsinawa Road is the State line between Wisconsin and Illinois. Part of this route takes you through a forested bluff area, where if you look closely you may see the mighty Mississippi River. This route also takes you past the Sinsinawa Mound, home of the Dominican Sisters, founded by Samuel Mazzuchelli, who at the age of 22, came to the American frontier in 1828 and became the "missionary priest of the whole of the Northwest Territory." Stop and visit their gift shop or grounds, which are a place of beauty for all to experience. The route passes through scenic rolling hills, open farmlands and a couple of small beautiful valleys. You will also pass by Dickeyville, the home of the famous Dickeyville Grotto.
